What banks ask for after you form an LLC

A bank account is a step you take with the bank after the state accepts the company. We can explain the usual paperwork. We do not open the account, and we do not guarantee the bank will approve it.

The documents banks usually want

After the Secretary of State accepts the articles, a bank wants to see that the company exists and to identify the people who will sign. The usual packet includes the filed articles of organization, an EIN confirmation from the IRS, the operating agreement, and government identification for the owners and the signers. Some banks also ask for a certificate of good standing, a short statement of ownership percentages, or proof of the company address.

The list is not the same everywhere. A national bank, a local bank, and an online account can each publish a different checklist. Call the bank you prefer and ask for its current LLC requirements before you book an appointment.

The EIN comes from the IRS

An EIN is the federal employer identification number for the company. The responsible owner applies for it with the IRS, alone or with help from an advisor. Keep the confirmation letter the IRS sends. Banks often want that letter, not a number typed into an email with no source document.

Wyoming Digital LLC is not the IRS. We cannot issue an EIN, and we do not control how long the IRS takes. Use the company name on the EIN application exactly as it appears on the articles. A mismatch among the articles, the EIN letter, and the operating agreement is a common reason a bank pauses the application.

Owners, signers, and the bank decision

Banks identify the people behind the company. They may ask for addresses, ownership percentages, and identification. A person who will sign should be authorized in the operating agreement or in a written consent. If an owner lives outside the United States, expect more questions. The bank still decides whether to open the account.

Wyoming Digital LLC introduces this paperwork as part of formation. The package is $99 plus state filing fees. We are not a bank. We do not submit the application, attend the meeting, or promise approval. We are not a law firm and we are not a tax advisor. A refusal is the bank decision under its own rules.

Common questions

Can I open the account before I have an EIN?

Most business accounts require an EIN first. Ask your bank. Some will start a file and finish it when the IRS confirmation arrives.

Will the bank accept a registered-agent address?

Some will and some will not. Ask the bank which address it will put on the account. Mail handling is a separate service from the bank decision.

Does every owner have to appear in person?

The bank sets that rule. Some want each owner present. Others allow a remote process. Formation paperwork does not change the bank policy.
